Welcome to My Continuing Online Journey!

Perhaps you've read my book by now, or maybe you've only heard of it and were curious about me, or maybe you're even just surfing the web and happened on one of my posts, but please take your time and wander around. I've got enough to say, I'll be posting for some years yet! Lots of resources, personal entries, and discussion to be had; please contribute (respectfully) to it without fear of being lambasted. (Read: all comments will be moderated for relevance and basic appropriateness.) Finally, if you are here because you have heard my story or one like it and are willing to lend your support to us indoctrinated folk entering the real world, Thank You. With love, Regina

Doubt Your Doubts, Not Your Faith

Conference is now officially the worst time of the year for me...and it comes twice. (Thanks for that, Mormons.) I received not one but SIX emails from LDS friends who wanted to let me know they thought of me when they heard Uchtdorf's talk about doubting one's doubts, rather than doubting one's faith.

I've been stewing for two days.

Then today I read this post over at The Church of the Fridge entitled "I Doubt It." It made my day. Perhaps it'll make yours, too.

Enjoy,
Regina

  1. thank you for your excellent book. i read it in a day & enjoyed it immensely. you should charge more for it! i had a fortune cookie once that said "he who has faith is happy, he who doubts is wise." it's nice to read of someone leaving the church in search of normal - instead of leaving it to become a crazy born againer (or as cheech & chong said "i used to be all messed up on drugs, now i'm all messed up on the lord":) i left mormonism in the late 80s & it was like a divorce - leaving socially, spiritually, intellectually, etc. i'm proud of you & wish you joy of it!

    1. Thank you so VERY much, m'dear! I can't ever see myself becomes a born-again'er; once you go skeptic, everything's fair game. :) Congrats on your divorce. It sounds like you're ever-so-much-more happy for it! (AS...AM...I!!!) ;)

  2. You are so welcome for conference. I loved D. Todd Christtofferson's talk. So sad you weren't on church on Sunday.

Someone not in you ward, but missed you.

    2. I'm always so amused when members - ANONYMOUSLY - leave cliche tidbits for those of us clearly permanently disaffected. It's like you guys are always looking for a honey-sweet fight...because I used to be, too. And why? Because deep down I knew something was off...I just wouldn't let myself admit it. Stop being a troll, and at least express the opinions you've been given to express without the silly drivel. Best, 'Gina

  3. it's annoying that members are somehow trained to think that if someone "falls away" it must be b/c that person had a bad experience with some members - i.e., that it's b/c we're mad at someone & not b/c we did our research & found out the history is a sham! (e.g., there's no archeological support for the BOM, the book of abraham was fabricated from a "translation" of egyptian funerary papyri, the 1830 & 1835 book of commandments differ, differing accounts of the first vision, polygamy was so joseph could score some babes, etc.) cheers!

    1. Isn't it?! But I suppose it makes sense in their minds: it's true, and no one would walk away from truth, so there must be "some other reason" we walked away. How sad that some people favor comfort over truth.

  4. I also found the enthusiasm for Dieter's talk a tad disingenuous and the Church of the Fridge quite refreshing.
